NORSU CSIT TOUR

It was a remarkable experienced I had last August 26 – 27, 2010. We had our educational tour to Cebu, the Queen City of the South as requirement for our major subject which is Seminars and Fieldtrip. Before the day of our educational tour, I did a lot of preparation due to excitement. Last August 26, 2010 we depart from Dumaguete at 12:00 am. We landed from Cebu at 8:00 in the morning and we directly go to our assigned tour bus with Kuya Paul as our tour guide. We had our breakfast at Sugbahan Restaurant and after eating, we directly start our seminar with the DOST Representative. He discussed to us about the Internet Protocol Version 6.
IPV6 is the new version of the Internet address protocol that has been developed to supplement. It also implements new features that simplify aspects of address assignment when changing Internet connectivity providers. IPV6 has more address space unlike IPV4. IPV4 can only hold 4 billion addresses whereas IPV6 has an unthinkable theoretical maximum of 340,000 trillion addresses. IPV6 was a fascinating topic because years will past, IP addresses possibly be decreased due to growing population and IPV6 is the solution though it is not yet implemented.
After listening with, we go back to the bus going Montebello Villa Hotel to relax and prepare to the next activity. A couple of minute past, we had our lunch at Family Choice (eat all you can) with the President, Dr. Henrey A. Sojor. After the endless lunch we go directly to CITOM (Cebu City Traffic Operation Mangement) Company which makes me interested about their job. Also we go to SMART Company; I gain information there about why our loads are being stolen. It’s because of logging, you should remember that when you don’t have a load don’t take for granted that you can still text. When you load again your phone the SMART Company will deduct your load on how many times you attempt to text without a load.
Two company down in one day. Since we have a short time, we go to AYALA Mall to shop and buy some “pasalubongs”. After the short shopping because we are given 1 hour, we go back to Montebello Villa Hotel to enjoy the night on swimming. We really enjoy the night bonding each other though not all of us are swimming. We took some photos to as evidence that we really enjoy our trip.
It’s already 5:30 in the morning on August 27, 2010 and we are preparing to the next visitation of company. Though, we are so stressed but still we have to do it. Good bye Montebello! We had our breakfast again in the Sugbahan Restaurant with the vendors of Utap for pasalubong fetching us. After eating our breakfast we go to Taoist Temple for just 15 minutes because we are running out of time. We took some pictures there and we really enjoy the view of the Taoist.  Taoist Temple is one of the Tourist spot in Cebu. According to kuya Paul our official tour guide, Taoist Temple begin with the dream of the Chinese. In his dream, his god said that he want a temple. He want to build a temple, then this Chinese man ignore it but when he begun to sleep he also begun to dream same dream the his god want to build him a temple. So to make the long story short, this Chinese man build the temple and it was called the Taoist Temple. They were so strict with capturing photos in front to their god.
It’s so nice to be with Kuya Paul because he really wants us to know every historical background of Cebu. Every barangay, he discussed it even streets why those streets are called like that, like that….. Since we are running out of time we go immediately to IT Park where DASH Engineering Company is located. I was astonished with their office because all people there are hardworking and they easy to approach. With the encouraging words given with the company, I was challenge to work there, but their company is not recruiting with the IT students because mostly of their work are engineering type. I really love their presentation especially in designing. I was also amazed with their 200 license software’s, while waiting with Mario our official bus driver. We discussed with our classmate about the DASH Company and also there are many big buildings that we have seen there.

Another Company that we’ve visited was the Bigfoot Entertainment Company. Bigfoot is a fully integrated entertainment company specializing in production, production services and film training. Bigfoot is an international entertainment company producing independent films for the global marketplace. With the beautiful lady, she tours us room by room of the production. The first room that we’ve entered is the room where you can make sounds. Everything is there; they are so creative and talented. The second was the room for dubbing and third are the rooms for photo and video editing. There so many places that we see there but the best was there semi theater room. The lady slides some of their movie trailers and it was so superb. After viewing the awesome trailers that they’ve made we had a picture taking and then we go back to the bus to have a lunch to SUTOKIL (Sugba Tuwa Kilaw) at NO PROBLEM.

At “No Problem”, they’re so many foods there but drinks are limited, but it just ok. Since Lapu lapu Shrine is near, we have a visitation on it. I hesitantly ask some question about the battle of Mactan. Kuya Paul answers all my questions and we had a pictorial where Magellan was died.

Stream Global Services was the third Company that we’ve visited at IT Park. As far as I know Stream Global Services is a premium business process outsourcing (BPO) provider of sales, customer care and technical support services. They occupy 3 floors from i2 building in IT Park. Before they tour us to their rooms where the call agents wor,k we had a short question and answer portion about their company. Minutes past, we see their entire company and its do good to know that they have a semi clinic room and resting area for those who cannot go home because they will finish their job at 3 o ‘clock in the morning. They have also rooms for their personal lockers and training rooms to train their new staffers. Yes! It was excellent to know that IT students can really work there as technician or a call agents it depends what he/she wants. They also accept On Job Training (OJT) in their company.

IT Park is marvelous; you see their all computer allied business. There are so many other companies that we’ve not visited because we have very short time. For the finally of our tour we go to SM Mall to enjoy the remaining time for just 1 hour again. We bought some “pasalubongs” and some souvenirs.

Yes! That was the end of our tour in Cebu. That tour will never be erased in my mind. We go to Cebu not just to learn from our field but also to bond with each other. Until now I still remember that event in our daily lives. I know that someday we can work there and I am very proud that I am a NORSUNIAN.
